About Samar
Samar Ayyub
Clinical Social Worker, M.Ed Special Education, Yoga Instructor - 500 hour RYT
I have experience working with individuals who are dealing with a variety of challenges. My unique approach to therapy is a culmination of my clinical background, my yoga and meditation teachings, and my time spent in the classroom. I help people understand and embrace their quirks and love what makes them different, rather than encouraging them to fix or change themselves. My approach is holistic, encompassing a client's gifts, imperfections, family history, genetics, and overall humanity to better meet their needs

I hold a Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, a Masters in Special Education from Towson University, and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Washington. My passion is people, and I’ve been supporting the development of children and adults in some capacity since 2014.
I’m a Maryland native who takes immense pride in her Palestinian culture and upbringing. I was raised in an immigrant household as a first-generation child, which positively shaped my perspective and the way I relate to others, problem-solve, and empathize with peoples' needs. When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy teaching and practicing yoga, being in the mountains, paddling on the lakes, and hanging out with my cat, Zeitoun!
My Philosophy
After obtaining a Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in 2014, I spent 10 years in the classroom, where I first learned the importance of understanding the uniqueness of each individual I work with. This sparked my curiosity and interest in better understanding people, which led me to a Masters in Special Education from Towson University. It was through these studies that I learned the skills to support neurodivergence and other disabilities.

This curiosity continued, as I was eager to find new ways of connecting with myself, my mind, and others. I found solace in a regular yoga practice as a way to reconnect with my breath and body during my first year of elementary school teaching. I quickly fell in love with the practice and its ability to revitalize the mind and the body, and I wished to share this joy with others.

These paths all finally converged when I found myself at the University of Washington to study Clinical Social Work and continue to refine my craft. Here, I learned the clinical and evidence-based practices I use with my clients in each of our sessions. Each of these lived experiences and learnings allow me to show up for my clients by meeting them exactly as they are, and providing a grounded and nurturing environment to simply listen or work through life's everyday challenges.

My orientation and approach pulls from evidence based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and person-centered therapy. I blend these with holistic practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and Yoga. Combined, the diversity of these practices allows me to tailor an approach to meet my client’s unique needs in each unique moment.
